Stewart Wild

Formerly Team Physiologist to the British professional mountain bike team and the Sports Science consultant to several of the Oxford University Teams, Stewart is the founder of Formula Fitness the UK’s no1 company for training elite racing drivers.

Sporting Background

Stewart started swimming back in the 60’s, completed for the London borough of Newham as team captain, along with being an Essex and Southern Counties swimmer. In the 1980’s he completed a comprehensive waters sports instructor’s course at the national water sports complex. Stewart is a GB International (Masters) in Biathele, a GB ranked Masters Swimmer and the 2005/6 Southern Area Biathlon Masters Champion.

Coaching Background

Stewart has worked in Sports Science and leisure management for over a decade, including lecturing for Premier Training Ltd.

Stewart holds an MSc in Exercise and Health Behaviour and is a full member of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES).

Stewart is both an ASA Swimming Coach and Teacher.

Stewart was the trainer responsible for getting Jenson Button into F1 and helped train Olympic Gold medallist Stephanie Cook whilst at Oxford.


Mike Dunmore

Mike ran a successful retail business from 1977- 2002 retiring to pursue other interests. Important amongst these was coaching for Oxford Tri Club, which he had been doing for a number of years.

Sporting Background

Coming from a squash & then running background, Mike took up triathlon in 1987 & was a founder member of Oxford Tri Club. In 1992 Mike decided to specialise in Duathlon, as pool time was becoming difficult to fit in with running a business & bringing up a young family. He competed in the 1992 European championships & the 1997 World championships, & was 3rd O40 Vet in the 1992 National Championships.


Coaching Background

Mike has been coaching since 1998. He is a BTA qualified coach & Head Coach at Oxford Tri Club. He also specialises in individual coaching & has coached athletes to an U23 World Championship gold medal, a silver medal at the 2005 World Championships in Honolulu & many World Championship qualifiers.


Sophie Whitworth

Sophie is a fulltime employee of Cadbury Trebor Bassett as a National Account Manager in sales & is also a World Triathlon Age Group medallist at Olympic distance.

Sporting Background

Sophie competed at county level for athletics and cross country until the age of 18, and built a strong swimming base at local club level. From here she was introduced to multisport at Millfield school in and then at Bath University when the sport of Triathlon was first developing.

From here Sophie trained up for the World Age-group championships in 1994 and has been in the team every year since then. Her notable successes are

  • Silver medal in the World Age group champs 2005, Honolulu, 35-39yrs
  • National Age group Champion, 2005, 35- 39yrs
  • Winner or podium finisher at all major Triathlon races in the UK, London, Windsor, Shropshire, Bournemouth, Blenheim, Bedford, Bala.
  • 220 series winner 2004.

Coaching Background

Sophie has been in Triathlon since 1994. Although she does not have any formal coaching experience she has attended many training camps abroad and in the UK with the top coaches in the sport. She has also worked with a coach to achieve her goal of achieving a World medal therefore has a wealth of experience of planning and delivering top quality results.


Mike Whitworth

For the last 26 years Mike has had a career in Marketing and Sales in the Food and Drink Industry. Having been made redundant in May 2006 at he age of 48 I have decided to take up new challenges,one of which is pulling together Triathlon Training Camps in the UK and abroad in the the future.

Sporting Background

Mike played Team Hockey until the age of 30 and was looking for new sporting challenges and came across Triathlon back in 1988 and so began a long and eventful time in the sport.Triathlon has taken me all over the World competing in and watching GB Age Group World Championships for the last 12 years.

Coaching Background

Mike has no formal coaching qualifications but a wealth of experience on Olympic distance racing and organising races and club involvement.


Rob Strachan

Rob Strachan is a British Triathlon Association (BTA) Level Three coach and is affiliated to Sports Coach UK.

Sporting Background

Rob began road running in 1982 and has raced most distances including the marathon. He has been involved in multi-sport events since 1994, racing over most formats from super-sprints through to Ironman, both at home and abroad.

  • Multiple long-distance triathlon finishes, including Ironman Lanzarote (1999, 2000 and 2002) and Ironman UK (2005)
  • Great Britain age-grouper for the Long Distance Triathlon World Age Group Championships (Nice 2002 and Ibiza 2003)

Coaching Background

Rob has been a triathlon coach since 2000. His practical experience includes pool-side swim coaching, and one-to-one triathlon coaching.
